Decluttering & Organizing Online Resources

We’ve spent the last three weeks focused on decluttering and organizing our spaces while downsizing what we own. You may have been inspired by the new year and you want a fresh new start or you may be planning to list your home to move this Spring. Either way, you’ve been taking action, or wanting to take action, and you may be looking for a little bit more inspiration.

As you very well know, there are countless resources online that are there to help you be inspired visually by what others have done to maximize their small spaces, transform drab rooms into comfortable and beautiful oasis’s. But perhaps you’re feeling a little stuck and just need a few more ideas. Well, here are some to help inspire you this week to take on one project, one space and make it into what you want it to be.
Pinterest: You simply have to type into the search area the specific organizing problem you are having and voila! you will have countless creative and beautiful ideas to help you transform any space. In this image, I searched “Organize a Space” and in the top items that appear, I have found several that are inspirational and very practical too.

In this simple search, I found ideas on how to declutter an overstuffed closet, to five daily habits to keep your house tidy, to 58 most creative DIY ideas to organize your home.

There is no shortage of ideas on Pinterest describing in step-by-step visuals on how to declutter your stuff or organize a room.

Oprah.com
:  There are no shortages of articles and interviews on Oprah’s website when it comes to decluttering and organizing.  With countless experts who have contributed to the massive content on her website, you will find great tips and strategies to declutter and simplify your life.  Here are just a few examples of articles that I have found will be helpful to you:

Peter Walsh:
I have been following Peter Walsh since he was on Clean Sweep and then through his connection to Oprah.  He is one of the first professional organizers who has paved the way for people to look at their lives through their stuff.  Every time he brings camera’s into people’s homes (I would LOVE to do that too!), he shares the compassionate side to our clutter.  We get caught in our stories and we have a hard time letting go.  I’ve learned from him and I’ve learned from others too that we shouldn’t let our stuff define our lives.  His YouTube channel provides great videos if you like to learn by watching instead of reading.

Becoming Minimalist:  Joshua Becker just happened to appear on my Facebook feed a few years ago.  As I read his story and paid close attention to his message, I knew this was a man who lived a message I had truly begun to embrace and live myself.  After being behind so many closed doors and seeing how people are truly living (myself included), I knew that my attachment to stuff had to change.  He provided fantastic insight into how to let go and move forward all while still having everything you need in your life to be happy.

If you still need additional resources, consider signing up for “Eliminate the Chaos”, the three-part video series that I created to help you or a loved one simplify your life, let go and move forward.  You can also sign up for the online video program called the “Summer of Organizing”, a program I created last summer whereby I take you into my own home and spaces and teach you how to downsize, declutter and get organized.

Remember, we are here to help.  My team at Moving Forward Matters can provide you with the one-on-one help you need to go through boxes and papers and clothes and shoes (oh my!) so that you can keep what you truly need and want and let go of the rest.  My team can help you to organize your spaces or help you with an upcoming move.

If you need help with the daunting tasks of bringing items to charity, the recyclers or the waste site, my team at 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is here to help.  One call (or book online) and we’ll take care of it all for you.
