Michelle Horne

Where do I begin…I am a Mom, wife and entrepreneur. My company is called Putting It Together Image Consulting. I love to helps my clients learn to “get it together” everyday. It’s such a privilege to work with individuals to help them define their style identity and use that image to create success in professional and personal situations. It is so integral that my clients feel my process is thoughtful, thorough, as well as and including a fun approach to help them take ownership of their authentic images. Clients connect with me when they are in transition, not feeling good enough, and in need of help. The most important part of the conversation is to help my clients figure out and honour their unique personality (their “personal funk”) while at the same time help them fit well in their environments.

Who inspires you in your life and why?

Lately, I am inspired by vulnerability and honesty. I feel so privileged to work with such amazing women who invite me into their life and are so vulnerable, honest and real, it’s humbling. It has also had a beautiful effect on me in my life to seek areas in my life that I can be more vulnerable and honest about what’s really going on, even when it’s not pretty.

What have been some of the biggest challenges you have had to overcome in your life?

Where do I start…The biggest challenge which still rears her head is believing in myself to my full potential. I am not there yet, but I believe if I keep ‘keeping it real’ and moving in the direction I am going in, that voice will one day have no power.

What did you do to move through them? What did you learn?

I am such a big believer in asking for help and support. I am blessed to have a lot of support now. I say that because you have to open up yourself and parts of yourself and ask for help in order to receive that and support. My family, faith, friends, colleagues, and clients all provide more than I can ever say thank you for. The challenges that I have been able to move through have been through action and with help. I learned that I cannot do it alone and to trust in others.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of my family, they have taught me a lot about love, unconditional love, strength, perseverance. It is probably my perseverance and stubborn nature and as my husband would say never accepting no as an option that makes me smile :).

What do you want younger women to know?

I would say pay really strong attention to who is around you, how do you feel when you are with the women you are spending your time with. To ensure that connection is respectful, you are like minded, you are supportive and supported. You can visibly see change in a positive way as these women you hang with build you up as well as others around you.

What does living fully mean to you?

Women Living Fully is a beautiful platform and full of women with honesty and integrity. I am honored to be included amongst all of you. Pierrette Raymond, you are the example of a woman I wished I would of met as a younger woman!

Favourite quote?

This is not a quote, however, I can still feel the power it had on me when I read this in 1999. It was written by Marianne Williamson for Nelson Mandela’s inaugural speech. It’s called “Our Deepest Fear”
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
