Neknominations, Kindness-Style

I’ve been outraged and saddened by what Neknominations has done to encourage our youth to drink excessively and risk their lives for recognition and peer acknowledgement.  I’ve been deeply concerned by the message it sends and wanted so much to have a voice in it all, especially as a mother to a 20 year old and a soon-to-be 17 year old.

My response is about what many have started to do – make Neknominations about kindness, love and paying it forward.  I’ve seen the power of what acts of kindness can do and I wanted to do my part to share my love for this movement.

So here is my contribution where I spent an hour of my time shopping at a local grocers and then delivering the food to a local food bank in the name of some of my most favorite women in my life.

If this inspires you don’t wait to be nominated.  Just take action and start your own chain of kindness and love.  And then nominate two or three of your BFF’s to do the same.

Neknominations doesn’t have to be about excessive and risky (and deadly) behaviour.  It can be about love, kindness and compassion.  Here’s your chance to play the game in a way that makes a positive difference!
